Privacy Policy
(“HIVMap.org”) is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining your confidence and trust. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect information from you or about you online through the Website, why we collect this information, how we will use or disclose this information and how you may update or delete identifiable information about you from our records.

HIVMap.org knows that you care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy seriously. PLEASE NOTE THAT BY VISITING THE WEBSITE OR DOWNLOADING OR USING ANY CONTENT WE OFFER ON THE WEBSITE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ACCEPT THE PRACTICES AND POLICIES OUTLINED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE WEBSITE.

What Does This Privacy Policy Cover?
Personal information (“Personal Information”) means any information that may be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address, and an email address or other contact information, whether at work or at home. This Privacy Policy covers Personal Information that we gather when you are accessing the Website and when you are downloading the Content. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control, or to individuals that we do not employ or manage.

What Personal Information Does HIVMap.org Collect?
The information we gather from our users enables us to communicate with them and to improve the experience of visitors to the Website. We collect the following types of information from our users:

Personal Information You Provide to Us:

We sometimes request users of the Website to provide Personal Information, which users provide strictly on a voluntary basis. We receive and store any Personal Information you enter on the Website or provide to us in any other way. The types of Personal Information collected include your name, email address, and comments. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but then we may not be able to communicate with you. The Personal Information you provide is used for purposes such as responding to your requests for information, and communicating with you about features of the Website.

Personal Information Collected Automatically:

• We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with the Website. We automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, and the page you requested.
• An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) whenever you access the Internet. This number may be the same each time you access the Internet or it may change. Like other Internet sites, we use IP addresses to collect aggregate, anonymous information about numbers of visitors and site usage. The address is logged on our server when your computer requests information from us. However, to allow users to access the Website anonymously, your IP address is not linked with Personal Information about you. We reserve the right, in rare instances, to use IP addresses to identify individuals who threaten the Website or its users.
• Generally, our service automatically collects information on our server logs from your web browser regarding your usage of the Website. Examples of information we collect automatically from all users include the IP address used to connect your computer to the Internet; computer and connection information such as browser type and version, operating system, and platform; and full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) click stream data, including date and time, and content you viewed on the Website. We only use this data in aggregate, anonymous form (that is, as a statistical measure), and not in a manner that would identify you personally. This type of aggregate, anonymous data enables us to figure out how often users use parts of the Website so that we can make the Website appealing to as many users as possible.

Email Communications:

We often receive a confirmation when you open an email from us if your computer supports this type of program. We use this confirmation to help us make emails more interesting and helpful. We also compare our user list to lists received from other companies, in an effort to avoid sending unnecessary messages to our users. If you do not want to receive email or other mail from us, please contact us by email, phone or fax as set forth below.

What About Cookies and Web Beacons?

We do not use cookies or web beacons on the Website.

How Else Does HIVMap.org Use Any of the Personal Information It Receives?

Other than as set forth in this Privacy Policy, we may use the Personal Information you provide about yourself to fulfill your requests for information, and to respond to your communications about HIVMap.org, the Website and AIDS and HIV related resources. Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of Personal Information, we cannot guarantee you that the information we collect will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy. We will not use or transfer Personal Information provided to us in ways unrelated to the ones described in this Privacy Policy without also providing you with an opportunity to opt out of these unrelated uses.

Will HIVMap.org Share Any of the Personal Information It Receives?

Business Transfers: In some cases, we may choose to buy or sell our assets. In these types of transactions, user information is typically one of the business assets that is transferred. Moreover, if HIVMap.org, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that HIVMap.org goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that these transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of HIVMap.org may continue to use your Personal Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Protection of HIVMap.org and Others: We may release Personal Information when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with law or court order; enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of HIVMap.org, our employees, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. Our disclosures may occur under circumstances where we may not be authorized to advise you of such action.

• You may request deletion of your Personal Information by contacting us by email, phone or fax as set forth below.
• If you do not wish to receive email or other mail from us, please contact us by email, phone or fax as set forth below.
